We had an absolute blast exhibiting at the FSB 50th Anniversary South Wales Small Business Conference on 4th September 2024, at the Village Hotel in Cardiff. Hosted by broadcaster Sian Lloyd, the event was jam-packed with small businesses, entrepreneurs, and experts, all eager to learn, network, and share ideas. And, as always, we brought our own special twist to the day!
After an insightful morning, our CEO, Katie Bullon, kicked things off as the opening afternoon speaker, delivering a fantastic talk on how small businesses can sharpen their marketing strategies. She shared practical insights on building a strong brand and how to define clear marketing efforts to stay ahead of the game. Katie’s expertise resonated with the audience, who were keen to learn how to stand out in an increasingly competitive marketplace.
But what really got the crowd buzzing was our signature cowboy hat activity. In true activ style, we made sure the event had a memorable, fun element that everyone could engage with. Attendees donned cowboy hats while diving into a creative exercise to define their business strapline. It was a light-hearted and engaging way to encourage people to think deeply about their brand identity and messaging. The hats were everywhere, and the activity sparked plenty of laughter, conversations, and—most importantly—some thoughtful straplines.
The conference itself was a huge success, filled with brilliant sessions covering everything from business wellbeing to growth strategies and the latest in AI and marketing. There were sessions on how to use LinkedIn to drive sales, how to access finance and manage late payments, and tips on creating a strong brand. With so much valuable information being shared, it was no surprise that the event was completely sold out.
The energy throughout the day was incredible, with plenty of networking and opportunities for attendees to connect with one another and with industry experts. We were thrilled to be a part of such a dynamic and inspiring event.
For activ, helping small businesses thrive and stand out is at the heart of everything we do. Being part of the FSB conference was the perfect platform to showcase how we support businesses in defining their unique voice and messaging. The cowboy hat activity was a fantastic example of how we approach marketing—creatively, collaboratively, and always with a bit of fun!
We can’t wait for next year’s conference and the chance to meet more brilliant businesses. Thank you to the FSB for having us and for inviting Katie to be a speaker on the day.
