Local award winning digital marketing company, activ Marketing Group, are celebrating International Women’s Day today by announcing they are one of the proud sponsors of the Llansannor and Llanharry Primary School Year 6 Girls’ Football Team.

The Football team compete against other local schools and will now be wearing their newly designed kit sponsored by activ Marketing Group.

activ Marketing Managing Director Katie Bullon, also a Mum at the school, is delighted with the partnership, “I have a daughter as well as two sons who both attend Llansannor, so I’m very pleased we have been able to sponsor the kit for the girls team.

“My daughter is my youngest and I’m determined to ensure she has the same opportunities as the boys, she added.

“Llansannor are fantastic at getting involved in all inter-school sports activities and the opportunities that are there for the boys are equally available for the girls and this is why we wanted to make sure it was the most enjoyable experience for them as possible and playing kit is all part of that.

“It’s such a brilliant opportunity for the girls to be part of a team, show off their skills and experience another level of competition beyond the school yard.

“The more coverage events like this have from this grassroots level through to the elite game, the further we get from the untrue viewpoint that men’s/boys sport is somehow superior.

“The school, us as parents, the media, we all have a role to play and we’re delighted we can assist this team in any way we can to achieve their potential, come on girls!” added Bullon.

Year 5 Teacher Mr Luc Morris said, “We are thrilled to see the girls and boys of Llansannor CIW Primary School take so much enjoyment in representing their school community. The passion and pride they’ve shown in recent tournaments has been in part due to the fantastic new sports kits, which have been designed by a fellow pupil and have fired the teams on to some great results. This could not have happened without the generous sponsorship that the children so ambitiously decided to raise themselves”.

JNP Solicitors join activ in supporting the girls team with sponsorship. Rebecca Rees, Director, JNP Solicitors and a Mum at the school said, “We are delighted to join activ Marketing in sponsoring Llansannor and Llanharry Primary School Girls’ Football team.

“At JNP Legal we are very proud of our long history of supporting local charities, good causes, and sports teams. We understand that in the current economic climate, funding kit is a real challenge for families and schools. With the significant growth in popularity of girls’ football in Wales, we thought this was an ideal opportunity to support a local school team, while also marking International Women’s Day.

“We wish the girls’ team every success!”, she added.

Women and Girls football has seen a huge increase in popularity in recent years, most notably the Lionesses success creating a huge presence in the media across the whole world. Closer to home the FAW has witnessed a 50% increase in participation, with now over 10,000 registered female players. However, continuing to keep pushing boundaries, the FAW have set an ambitious goal to double that number and have 20,000 women and girls playing football by 2026. By ensuring every girl has the opportunity to be involved in football.

Bullon added, “International Women’s Day is a wonderful opportunity to shine the light on all the progressive work that is ongoing in all walks of life to ensure equality is at the forefront of everyone’s minds”.
